About Brecon
Brecon is a beautiful ancient market town and the hub of roads leading north south east and west across Wales.
There is an indoor and outdoor market here and throughout the town there are independent retailers as well as multiples. Brecon has retained its character and individuality.
The Royal Regiment of Wales has adopted the Havard Chapel, within the Cathedral, where the Regimental Colours are housed.
Brecon is also home to the Royal Regiment of Wales Barracks and the Regimental Museum. The Museum includes the history of the South Wales Borderers and the Anglo-Zulu Wars. There are objects and archives from four continents over four centuries, 3,000 medals, Victoria Crosses and an extensive weapons collection.
You could take a leisurely boat trip on the Brecon & Monmouth Canal.
A Celtic Church was established here over a thousand years ago. A 12th Century font is a survivor of the first Norman church. In 1923, it became the Cathedral Church of the Swansea & Brecon Diocese. A visit to this peaceful sanctuary enables one to to sit in quiet reflection.
