Henry VII was born at Pembroke Castle.

St. Patrick, patron saint of Ireland, was born in the village of Banwen. He was a cousin to St. David, the patron saint of Wales. (See Places - Llantwit Major)

Madoc, a Welsh explorer, discovered America a few hundred years before Columbus. There is a North American Indian tribe called the Mandan, whose language includes many Welsh words. Some of these people have blue eyes and fair skins!

Captain Morgan, known infamously as a pirate, hailed from north of Cardiff and eventually became Governor of Jamaica.

Arthur of legendary fame appears to have had close associations with Wales.

Dylan Thomas, Poet & Writer was born at Swansea, worked in London and the USA, eventually settling in Laugharne, Carmarthenshire, where much of his famous literature was written, including the famous classic, 'Under Milk Wood'.
