Some Facts About the Airport

The airport's runway is 2,392m long and 46m wide, the longest of any fully commercial airport west of London and south of Manchester. On average, up to 25 aircraft can take off and land every hour.

Services operate to and from other UK regional airports, and those in Europe and North America and, due to Cardiff's westerly location, many trans-Atlantic airlines use it as their diversion airport.

Cardiff Airport has the second best weather record in the UK (after Glasgow Prestwick Airport), so travellers can depend on the reliability of the services to and from the airport.

Increasingly Cardiff plays a role as gateway for people to enter Wales. Links, via Schipol Airport at Amsterdam, mean that Wales is within easy reach of many countries across the World.

Cardiff offers over 50 direct destinations, and over 400 Worldwide connecting flights. It is the only airport in the South West to offer a Trans-Atlantic route to Orlando Florida and a low cost service to Toronto Canada.

The growth of Cardiff International reflects travellers' increasing desire to use the capital's airport rather than the two and a half to three hour drive through England to reach Heathrow and Gatwick.

A 'Top 10' Airport
With improving access, through new rail and road links, Cardiff Airport has all the ingredients to capitalise on future potential.
The British Airways Maintenance facility is based here for major servicing both to the BA Fleet and to aircraft from other airlines.

High Speed Internet
Wi-Fi hotspots have been installed in all lounges and other public areas - providing Internet access for any of the 1.9 million passengers passing through the airport each year.
Travellers can now access their emails and check out the latest news via their laptop or Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) without the need to plug into a phone line.
