About Caldicot

Caldicot is adjacent to the Severn Estuary. The area has been inhabited from, at least, the Neolithic period and has seen the Romans who settled at nearby Caerwent (Venta Silurum), then the Normans who also established themselves across South Wales.

The Domesday Book, records, 'Durand the Sheriff holds of the King, one land, in Caerwent, called Caldicot….'

Caldicot Castle is famed as an attraction (See ‘Attractions – Caldicot Castle’) and in addition, built C.1120, is one of the oldest occupied houses in the Principality - Llanthony Secunda Manor.

Directions

Situated between Chepstow and Newport just off the A48, and the two Severn Bridges, Easily accessible from the First Severn Bridge via the M4.
