Llanwrtyd Wells is the smallest town in Britain.
Originally a hamlet called Pont-rhyd-y-Fferau, it grew through the popularity of mineral springs that were discovered in 1732 and so became a ‘Spa Town’.
There are many festivals held throughout the year, ranging from the famous, ‘Bog Snorkelling’ Competition to beer festivals and organised walks.
It is an ideal central location for walking, cycling, pony trekking, fishing, or just exploring the superb countryside that surround the town.
Llanwrtyd Wells' location forms the northerly point of a triangle with Brecon and Llandovery.
The town is linked by the A483 road to Llandovery (A40 to Carmarthen). Brecon is reached via the B4520 over Mynydd Epynt (Epynt Mountain). The Brecon Beacons National Park lies south of the town. There is a rail link via ‘The Heart of Wales Line’ one of the most picturesque railway lines in Britain, running some 120 miles from Swansea to Shrewsbury.
