Currently studying composition at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Ed is involved in a full range of styles and genres.

Recent projects include: 'Dark-Room Shavings', a colourful, short, contemporary work for orchestra as well as fresh, upbeat tracks for the natural history film, 'Bay of Life' (installed at Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre and distributed to 1800 schools across Wales) and the stylish 'In Viam Pacis', winner of the 2005/6 Barry Amateur Choir competition.
Ed has just completed a work in collaboration with dance troupe, Orlaiths of Irish Dance, who performed a new dance to his music in their summer show in July 2006. His piece, 'Blue Thread' was selected as part of the 2006 Vox Novus 60x60 project, in which sixty compositions of under a minute each were played in an hour-long concert.
In addition to composing, Ed reviews concerts and recordings for SPNM and is a member of the BBC National Chorus of Wales. He is beginning a new conceptual orchestral work and completing a piece for tenor horn, harp and organ. Ed is also sketching ideas for a piece for women's choir.
The music playing in this section, 'Mermaid Song', was composed and performed by Ed Scolding.
